Celebrate Solvang’s historical and cultural roots at the Living History Festival, 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. A Viking camp will occupy the garden throughout the weekend while storytellers and craftspeople demonstrate their skills and entertain visitors. New this year are a variety of stations with hands-on activities for all ages, and the Danish Christmas Corner with gifts and accessories rooted in Danish Christmas traditions. The public is invited; admission is free.

“Manna from Heaven” is the title for a show which focuses on vessels used to feed the body and soul featuring art from three artists: Robert Burridge, Jim McWilliams, and Bob Nichols. Exhibit programming includes “Robert Burridge: Dialogue & Demonstration” (Tuesday, September 13), Artist Talk with Bob Nichols: “A Career with Clay” (Saturday September 24), a two day workshop in abstract painting and collage with Robert Burridge (October 5 & 6), and a drop-in clay art workshop (Saturday October 22).
