February 2 – April 28, 2013

Elverhøj celebrates the area’s scenic splendor in “The View From Here,” a new art exhibition featuring six local artists and their diverse visions of the Santa Ynez Valley. Solvang’s founders were drawn to the Valley’s oak-studded rolling hills and majestic mountain vistas, the sun-kissed fields and rural beauty. Those same qualities are enjoyed by residents today—and inspire the art community.

The public is invited to meet and celebrate with the artists at the opening reception on February 2 from 4:00 to 6:00pm.  Refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

Featured artists are Peggy Brierton, Ron Guthrie, Patricia Hedrick, Renee Kelleher, Rise Delmar Ochsner and Carol Wood. All six of the artists live and work in the Santa Ynez Valley and find inspiration in their own “backyard.” But each has their own approach as seen in the diversity of the work on display and the variety of styles and art media.

Viewers can learn more about the artists’ tools, techniques, and motivation at a free panel discussion Saturday March 2 at 4:00 pm in the Museum Gallery. A social hour will follow at 5:00.
